DuMont Burger

I could go into some kind of review type spiel about Dumont Burger, but that would be a waste a time that you could be spending going over there and finding out for yourself. If this relationship is gonna work, you’re gonna have to start trusting me. Put simply, I have eaten burgers in many countries, many continents. I’ve had burgers in Africa and Burgers In Japan (don’t sleep. The Japanese do not fuck around). The best burger I have ever set mouth on is located in Brooklyn. This is not one of those proclamations where you get to chime in about corner bistro,or shake shack or whatever. I’m not saying those places are bad. I’ve eaten at them all, and it’s a battle for second place.

  1. Ok, ok, that’s all fine - and i have loved Dumont, Dumont Burger and fine Dressler for many moons…(btw as an aside: the pomegranate martini at Dumont, and the Dark&Stormy at Dressler are pretty much two of the best cocktails in Manhattan right now)

but i want go back to the most interesting line in this post: “I’ve had burgers in Africa…”

    where the hell?
    .. north of Sahara?

    - because the one thing I craved more than a hot shower when i spent three months traveling through the sub-Saharan is burgers. Specifically cheese burgers. I dreamt about them. I dreamt and thought and fantasized about burgers for weeks. Even just thinking back to my craving right now, makes me crave one. It was that bad.
