Japans fixed gear.

8 September 2008 No Comment

Right now in Japan, and especially Tokyo, its become pretty much ultra cool to ride around town on fixed gear track bikes. So much so in fact that some of the people make the journey into the more fashionable districts of Tokyo by car only to take there tricked out “Pisto” for a ride up and down the block and then make the drive home.

In fact the Japanese actually have a deeply rooted history in the art of track frame making feeding the velodromes with handbuilt fames for the Keirin. You can read more about it here.

There are a bunch of different shops in Tokyo selling super sweet rides like Sexon Super Peace at the top of Shibuya. What`s great about these “fashion” frame shops is that alot of them sell and support the NJS made frames. Which is great, because all of those frames are about the best looking frames you could ask for when built up into a proper ride.

Pedal Mafia is a fixed gear crew out of Tokyo. They recently held a Matsuri in Shibuya.
