An Authentic Tokyo Cycle Shop13 November 2008
So I woke up this morning and tumbled down the street toward the Sangenjaya train station. I was sans fixie cause I stayed at my girls pad last night and she didn`t want to catch the taxi home from Kinfolk alone. But thanks to that little act of sweet selfishness, I was able to find a treasure trove of tight little backstreets on the way to the station via foot. This area I stumbled upon is affectionately known as Chuo Gekijo. It`s like a sort of shitamachi, one of those pockets of Tokyo that time has not yet caught up with lots of character, confidence, and charm. There was also a bunch of trolly pushing Grandmas navigating the tight streets while I was taking these photos. I even saw one do a 3 point turn to make it around a real narrow bend!.
You can just tell the Penny-farthing sign sitting above the Track Bike sign has been there for a few decades longer, and not just because the sign is falling apart either.
