Dear Jason,

I just bought a George Foreman Grill and it scares the shit out of me. I cannot cook. What can I make with this crazy thing? 3 ingredients or less, please.

Erin,
Fear not, Gorgeous George’s gift to the world is to be embraced, and I promise as long as you dont put your tongue on it, it wont hurt you. Start with a simple classic. Make yourself a grilled cheese sandwich, but give yourself the gift of bacon.

Like this: Turn your grill on… when its hot lay 3 strips of bacon down, do this first, cuz the goodness you leave on the grill will translate to outside of the bread. After about 3 minutes, flip the bacon, 2 or 3 more minutes, then take it of, lay down a slice of bread, and put the bacon back on. Lay down a couple of slices of whatever cheese you like by the slice (I have yet to find a cheese that isn’t made somehow better with bacon ) and the other piece of bread. Close the top for a few minutes. Not more than 5. That’s an icebreaker for the Foreman grill. You a. of all cooked delicious meat, and b. of all made a complete meal.

Now, if you somehow tire of grilled cheese with bacon… not likely, but maybe, here are a couple of options… Grilled tomato, zucchini, and provolone (on focaccia) you can put it on any bread you like, but Goerge’s grills are in essence panini presses, so soon you will have gone from a no cookin ass kitchen to pressed Italian sandwiches… Status.

So here goes… get a roma tomato, azucchini, a couple of slices of provolone and (yeah, I know this is the ‘fourth ingredient’, but c’mon, its bread!) a piece of focaccia, or some pita, or any friggin bread that blows your skirt up, for that matter.

Turn on your Georgie…Now, slice the tomato into 4 slices, Cool? Cool. Cut the ends off the zucchini, and cut it in half, lengthwise. now cut these in half again. First the tomatoes on to the grill, about 2 minutes each side. Then the zucchini, same same, 2 minutes each side. Now wipe the grill with a towel, paper or otherwise, gently now, dont press on it while its heated… Okay, lay the Focaccia down, aight? first the zucchini, then the tomatoes. Now, do this for me, please just sprinkle a little salt and pepper for chrissakes… then the provolone and top it with the bread and again, close up shop and give it about 5 minutes. Welcome home…

Work on these for a minute and when I get to NY (coming soon- a few weeks) I’ll show you how to use your George Foreman grill to hack into other peoples refrigerators and download their cold cuts.

If you like it, I recommended it.
