My current theory is that when the entire world collapses, and we end up living in shipping containers on some giant barge floating out on the sea, we won’t even mind because we’ll have internet and cool collapsible furniture. It’ll be just like the spaceshipin Wall-E, only with more 700% more disease and machete wielding maniacs. In the meantime, i really want the mobile kitchen.
When I visited Amsterdam as a kid, my mind was blown by the insane number of bikes there. When most people think of Amsterdam, they think of pot and the red light district. I think of it as the city of Bicycles and Butter Cookies. What I mean by butter cookies is actual butter cookies, that’s not slang for smoking weed with a hooker.
“Bicycle” is the title of a 100-day event (Jun.22 - Oct.5) full of activities and lectures anchored by a central exhibition at the Designhuis in Eindhoven. The exhibition provides a great overview on the variety of two-wheelers designed for sports, transport, showing off… everything! Some 18 million bicycles in the Netherlands make it worth checking out this gallery of Dutch design on wheels.
